"According to an assessment,
my mind is an empty aquarium.
I am forced to sit in this special classroom

Full Length - 72 pages, 6" x 9", ISBN: 9781499501254
" 'In the Beginning and the End' marks the dramatic appearance of a major new voice in contemporary poetry. Pierce's poems are rooted in the American experience, where "we had a barn where Grandma and Grandpa / made love on the floor / to celebrate the purchase of the land." But the author, unconstrained, is a "night train", and her acreage is the cosmos. Buy this book."

TO THE STILLNESS, THE SILENCE, AND THE ENDLESS BOREDOM
TO THE DUMB BLUEBIRD IN BROKEN TREES
TO THE BOTTLES AND THE LOST EYES
TO THE ONES WHO SAID THEY'D MAKE IT
WHAT DOES ANYONE EVER REALLY KNOW?
IF IT'S TRUTH THEN IT'S SOMETHING
IF IT'S TRUTH THEN IT'S A POEM
